ChinaComm to Build Wireless Network across Beijing by 2Q 2008

According to Sina.com, ChinaComm, a China-based WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) has been selected by China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry) to build a wireless network in Beijing for the upcoming 2008 Olympics Games by the second quarter of 2008. Covering 90% of the city's main avenues, this network will consist of 9000 WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networking) hotspots and 150 WiMAX base stations, mainly to deliver high-speed data services. A TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) network will be used to deliver audio, and mid- to low-speed data services.
